Chartered London Teacher Status aims to recognise and reward the incredible achievement made by teachers in raising the standard of teaching and learning across London.
Chartered London Teacher (CLT) status recognises and rewards the skills and expertise of London teachers. CLT status is for teachers who, on a day-to-day basis, play a key role in transforming education in London by working to raise the achievements of all pupils and by challenging educational under-achievement and disadvantage.
CLT status:
celebrates the quality of professional practice and commitment to continuing development by London teachers;
recognises the distinctive challenges and opportunities of teaching in London;
should be part of a London teacher’s day-to-day work and integrated with performance management arrangements – it is not a stand alone additional process;
carries with it the award of a £1,000 lump sum on achievement of CLT status;
offers scope to combine with further professional development activities and accreditation;
builds on best professional practice, including observation of others and teachers sharing experience;
promotes London teachers and their teaching as leading the way in professional practice and career development.
For London to be a world leader in education, London teachers must be recognised as among the best in their profession. CLT status is designed to provide this recognition.
