The Chartered London Teacher scheme was a Department for Education programme run on the DfE’s behalf by the College of Teachers and the London Centre for Leadership in Learning.
Chartered London Teacher status aimed to recognise and reward the incredible achievement made by teachers in raising the standard of teaching and learning across London.
New arrangements for the Chartered London Teacher scheme were introduced from 1 September 2014. These changes meant that registration for the scheme closed on 1 September 2014 and that teachers registered by that date had until 1 September 2016 to submit an application for CLT status.
Discontinuation of the scheme does not affect teachers who have already been awarded the status.
Chartered London Teacher (CLT) status recognised and rewarded the skills and expertise of London teachers. CLT status was for teachers who, on a day-to-day basis, played a key role in transforming education in London by working to raise the achievements of all pupils and by challenging educational under-achievement and disadvantage.
