In order to obtain Chartered London Teacher status, you
have completed the two year minimum CLT registration period;
have taught in London state schools for four years;
are on the upper, AST, excellent teacher or leadership pay scales (not the mainpay scale); and
have met the 12 CLT standards and completed a professional reflection.
You can be assessed for CLT status at the same time as Threshold: much of the evidence for one will be appropriate for the other.
When people meet the criteria for CLT, the headteacher signs the Declaration Form (Form 5A), which should then be sent to the College of Teachers.
When headteachers or heads of service meet the criteria, Declaration Form 5B should be
completed by the Chair of Governors or Line Manager.
It can be sent by mail, fax 020 7631 4865 or as an email attachment to forms@clt.ac.uk. Electronic signatures may be used.
Headteachers have to be registered as Assessors with The College of Teachers (Assessors’ Form).
Completed Assessors’ Form should be sent prior or alongside with Teacher Declaration form for a member of staff. Only one form is required per school.
If a new Head Teacher is appointed then a new Assessor’s Form must be completed and sent to the College of Teachers to ensure that any Declaration Forms sent in with the new Head in appointment are valid. New Assessor’s Forms should also be completed where those concerned have married, retired or any acting Head Teachers.
